What's hot on eBay Australia #2

Bankers Desk Lamp

You know the ones. Most have a brass coloured base and a glass shade; the common colour being green. There are also stained glass varieties and shades in more unusual colours such as black and orange.

A solid brass bankers lamp with green shade and marble base recently sold for $212, with an amazing 34 bids! Stained glass varieties can regularly sell in the $150 range. Lamps with green shades sell on average for $50.

If you are looking to sell your lamp on eBay, note that there can be a great deal of variation in price, with the pick-up location possibly having something to do with this. Not all bankers lamps will sell, and lamps with white- and blue-coloured shades are also less popular.

What's Hot on eBay Australia #1

Black Lady Lamps

A hot seller on eBay Australia at the moment is black lady lamps, with an original George Barsony being the most sought after.

George Barsony arrived in Australia Hungary in 1949, and shortly after he and his wife (Jean) set up Barsony Ceramics. The name Barsony has since become synonymous with black ceramics from the 1950s and 1960s.

A Barsony black lady lamp complete with original shade can sell on eBay Australia for over $1,300, with many selling in the $300-$600 range. Cheaper non-Barsony lamps, some with a hula-type theme, can sell for as little as $50.

If listing a black lady lamp (and I wish I was), Collectables or Antiques are the most popular categories to use.
